A Very Messy Sport for Off-road Vehicles
Mud racing, also commonly called mud bogging, is a popular competitive sport in North America, usually among those who drive off-road vehicles. The goal is to drive a vehicle (most commonly one with four-wheel drive) through a mud pit measuring a certain length, and the winner is determined by who was able to make it the longest distance through the pit; if more than one person gets all the way through, the winner is determined by the fastest time. Mud runs can vary in their length, the number of obstacles included, and the terrain they are on. There are also several different types of mud racing events; some are almost like extra muddy drag racing, others include many obstacles such as driving over hills, rope climbing (for drivers, not vehicles), and driving through rings of fire. Many participants modify their vehicles to best accomodate the events they usually participate in.
